In order to help students of the Foreign Trade Economics major access practical knowledge, enhance soft skills, and update changes and career orientations related to the field of foreign trade in the era of Industry 4.0, the Economics (Foreign Trade) major at Lac Hong University always places emphasis on organizing seminars, field trips, and short-term professional training courses for students. Let us review some activities to see how students have experienced extracurricular activities.
The most recent activity was the workshop “Market Research and Export Order Implementation,” with guest speakers holding key positions at Esquel Company such as export-import, brand development, human resources, and quality management. At the workshop, students were guided in detail by the company on how to process export orders, specific documentation, how to design survey questionnaires and analyze survey results to conduct market research and customize products according to local markets, thereby helping students understand how to approach and penetrate markets.
Next was the seminar “International Business: Exploiting Tariff Incentives from FTAs and Practical Experience in International Payment.” The programme featured guest speakers who were representatives of the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) – Ho Chi Minh City; the Chairman of the Dong Nai Import-Export Association; Eximbank Dong Nai; and the General Director of Dong Nai Color Rubber Company. Through the seminar, students were able to gain practical experience in international payment and international business, including L/C methods, forms of trade finance, and practical risks.
The seminar “Export-Import Operations – Supply Chain Trends and Logistics Solutions for Enterprises” introduced students to practical content such as: electronic customs declaration – the latest updated requirements; logistics trends and solutions for enterprises; “International Business Experience – Rules of Origin, L/C Payment.”
In parallel with the seminars were field trips to Ajinomoto Vietnam Company factory and Saigon Newport Corporation – Cat Lai. Through these visits, students learned about company operations, container seaport operations and equipment, visited the Control Tower, wharf, barge berth, CFS warehouse, customs office, FCL export procedures, and exchanged with staff regarding the skills and knowledge required to work in logistics and export-import.
